Dear Prospective International Student,
Kyoto International University is a unique university. Its
educational system closely follows that of American universities, but it
has been adapted to meet the needs of the international as well as the
national community. My experience of having attended both American and
Japanese universities at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and
teaching at high school and college level institutions in both
countries, has played a significant role in forming KIU's educational
policies.
KIU has developed a system meet the needs of both internationals and
nationals in a distinct bilingual classroom environment. In contrast to
most, if not all, international study programs, KIU has international
and national students together in the same classroom and provides the
professor with an interpreter, allowing international communication on
academic topics within the classroom. Here at KIU, we offer an
unmatchable experience in education. We encourage you to visit our
campus, sit in on some classes, and talk with our students and
professors, so you can see for yourself what KIU is all about.
In addition, KIU is dedicated to preparing young people for their
future by providing them with the knowledge, skills and understanding
they need to be successful in our ever-changing global society.
Peter N. Blocksom, President
