International Studies Department: Japanese Studies
The Japanese Studies program is designed to enable students attain
fluent proficiency in the Japanese language. Graduates will be able to express themselves freely in both
written and spoken Japanese as well as read and understand most Japanese newspaper articles.
Japanese studies majors will benefit from the cross-cultural learning
environment of KIU both within the classroom and in extra-curricular
activities.
Individualized language instruction is given by bilingual and
bicultural faculty. Advanced placement is possible for those with previous
Japanese ability.
